Located in Sonoma County, California, just South of the Russian Rivermouth, Goat Rock is an alright beachbreak that has a peak or two on certain swells. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand and rock bottom. Watch out for sharks.
What are the best surf conditions for Goat Rock?
Gets good between waist high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and will be empty (1/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works on a low to mid tide.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 here in the summer. In the winter a 5/4 is best. Water temperatures range between 10-14. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
