Located on the French side of the Channel, Trouville is a fun river mouth wave that offers up some good walls for maneuvers. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 50 meters (164 feet) over a sand bottom. Watch out for water pollution.
What are the best surf conditions for Trouville?
It gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when the waves are smaller and switching to a shortboard or step-up as the size increases. This break is best suited for intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is not consistent at all (2/10) and will usually have a crew on it (7/10). The best winds are from the South. The best swells are from the Northwest and West. It works best on mid to high tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 16°C (61°F). In winter, a 4/3 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 10°C (50°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
