Located on the French side of the Channel, Collignon is a quality left-hand jetty break that is one of the best waves in the area when it is working. The waves here are not easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. The left will offer up some great sections for putting down big carves and hacks. Pollution can be a problem here.
What are the best surf conditions for Collignon?
Gets good from waist-high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when the size steps up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here almost never breaks (2/10) and gets insanely crowded when it does (9/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are big and from the Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works best on mid to high tides.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 16 degrees. In winter a 4/3 is best as water temperatures only drop to 10 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
