Located on the French side of the Channel, Petites Dalles is a fun beach break that offers up some good waves for maneuvers. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters (164 feet) over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Petites Dalles?
It gets good between waist-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when the waves are smaller and a shortboard when they’re bigger. This break is suitable for all levels of surfers. The surf here is not consistent at all (2/10) and can get busy when it does break (5/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. It needs a big Southwest swell to work well. Mid to high tides are best.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 16°C (61°F). In winter, a 4/3 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 10°C (50°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
