Located on the French side of the Channel, Le Rozel is a fun reef break that offers a good A-frame peak suitable for big carves and hacks. The waves here can be tricky to surf and break for up to 50 meters (164 feet) over a rocky reef. Watch out for the shallow rock shelf.
What are the best surf conditions for Le Rozel?
It gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when the size steps up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and can get crowded when it does (8/10). The best winds are from the East; it gets blown out easily by other winds. The best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, and West. It works best on mid to high tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 16°C (61°F). In winter, a 4/3 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 10°C (50°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
