Located in Northern Baja, Mexico, Punta Baja is a decent right-hand point break that offers up some good, rippable sections when the swells line up. The waves here are not the easiest to surf and break for up to 200 meters over a rock and sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta Baja?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is not the most consistent (4/10) and will get busy at times (5/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, or West. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 31 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best as water temperatures plunge to 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
