Located in Northern Baja, Mexico, Cabo San Quintin is an excellent right-hand sand bottom point that offers up amazing barrels when the conditions line up. The waves here are not easy to surf and break for up to 200 meters over a sand bottom. You’ll need a fully outfitted 4WD to get here, which keeps the crowds down.
What are the best surf conditions for Cabo San Quintin?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard or step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will not be crowded (3/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells are from the Southwest, West, or Northwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 31 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best as water temperatures plunge to 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
