Located in Northern Baja, Mexico, Freighters is a quality right-hand point break created by a large shipwreck right in the lineup, making for a rippable wall. The waves here are mellow compared to the heavier spots around, breaking for up to 200 meters over a rock bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Freighters?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent but needs a big swell (6/10) and will have a crew on it when on (6/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Northwest and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 31 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best as water temperatures plunge to 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
