Located in Golfo de Nicoya, Costa Rica, Tivives is a quality left-hand river mouth that offers up fast barreling rides on big South swells. The waves here can be heavy and break for up to 100 meters over a rock and sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Tivives?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or step-up when bigger. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures range between 29 and 28. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
