Located in Golfo de Nicoya, Costa Rica, Playa Jaco is a beach break that offers up some rippable sections from time to time but is located in the most bustling surf town in Costa Rica. The waves here are easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. There will always be something going on in town if the waves aren’t good.
What are the best surf conditions for Playa Jaco?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard if the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will get insanely crowded (9/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures range between 29 and 28. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
