Located in Central Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica, Boca Damas is an excellent river mouth that delivers long sections and at times hollow lefts and shorter rippable rights. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 150 meters over a sand bottom. Strong currents and local crocs can be an issue. Best to take a boat from Quepos.
What are the best surf conditions for Boca Damas?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step-up as when bigger. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on an incoming tide at any level.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures range between 29 and 28. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
