More on Playa Dominical
Located in Central Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica, Playa Dominical is a quality beach break that offers up some strong barreling waves on most swells. It’s a pretty laid-back town which is less developed than places like Jaco and Tamarindo. The waves here are darn heavy. Broken boards and drownings are downright common. The waves break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Playa Dominical?
Gets good between waist-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or step-up when bigger. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will usually have a crew on it (6/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
