Located in the West Coast District of South Africa, Strandfontein Beachbreak is a fun beachie that offers up some rippable and barreling walls. The rights are generally better than the lefts. The waves here can be challenging at size and break for up to 100 meters over a rock and sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Strandfontein Beachbreak?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is good for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in summers when water temperatures rise to 18°C (64.4°F). In the winter, a 4/3 might be best as temps drop to about 15°C (59°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
