Located on the Cape Peninsula, South Africa, Noordhoek is an excellent beach break that offers up some classic peaks, especially when a bit of juice arrives. Barrels are more than common here. The waves here require some skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a rock and sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Noordhoek?
It gets good between chest-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if small and a shortboard and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is good for all levels of surfer. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will generally have a crew (7/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the Northwest, West, or Southwest. It works best on a low-to-mid tide.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 19°C (66°F). In winter, a 4/3 is best when temps drop to 15°C (59°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
