Located in Northern Oregon, Cannon Beach is a mediocre beachy that breaks over a sand bottom. The waves here are not great, but the town is the go-to vacation destination for Portlanders. The waves are easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters providing some decent sections for manoeuvres. Great beach to bring your family to with surfing as a maybe.
What are the best surf conditions for Cannon Beach?
Gets good from waist high to overhead. We recommend riding your longboard when small and a shortboard when bigger. This beach is suitable for all levels of surfers. The surf here sometimes has a wave (4/10) and is usually quite crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the East and the best swells come from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works best on a mid to high tide.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 14 degrees. In winter we recommend wearing a 5/4 when the water temperatures drop to 9 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
