Located in Northern Oregon, Rockaway Beach is a decent beach break that breaks over a sand bottom. The waves here are easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters providing some great sections for turns, hacks, or cruising.
What are the best surf conditions for Rockaway Beach?
Gets good from waist high to overhead, usually in the summer or spring. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when bigger. This beach is suitable for all levels of surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and is hardly ever crowded (3/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 14 degrees. In winter we recommend wearing a 5/4 wetsuit when water temps drop to 9 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
