Located in Northern Oregon, Neakahine Point is an excellent point on its day, breaking over a boulder covered bottom. The waves here are powerful and can be challenging, breaking for up to 200 meters serving up some meaty sections. You have to walk to the point from the North end of Manzanita beach, best to check the surf from the highway before making the trek.
What are the best surf conditions for Neakahine Point?
Gets good from chest high to double overhead. A longboard is good when smaller but a shortboard is best when it starts to show size. This break is only for intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here does not break often at all (3/10) and will not be crowded (3/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are big from the Northwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 wetsuit in the summer when water temps rise to 14 degrees. In winter a 5/4 is best when water temps drop to 9 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
