Located in Northern Oregon, Smugglers Cove is a fun beach break that breaks over sand in a picturesque cove. The waves here are easy to surf, usually very mellow, and break for up to 150 meters providing some great sections for manoeuvres and cruising.
What are the best surf conditions for Smugglers Cove?
Gets good waist-high to triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard most days, but a shortboard might work on lower tides and larger days. This beach is perfect for beginners, but all levels will have fun. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and is generally somewhat uncrowded (4/10). The best winds come from the East and the best swells come from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides, best for beginners at high.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 14 degrees. In winter a 5/4 is best when temps drop to 9 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
