Located in Southeast Scotland, Lunan Bay is a fun beach break that offers up some good shifty peaks for performance manoeuvres when the conditions line up. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. Watch out for salmon nets and unexploded WWII bombs.
What are the best surf conditions for Lunan Bay?
Gets good between waist high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will be busy on weekends and holidays (5/10). The best winds are from the West. The best swells are from the East, Northeast, and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 14 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temps drop to 7 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
