Located in Southeast Scotland, Kingsbarns is a quality stretch of beach break with some reef options that offer up some good sections for turns and hacks when the conditions line up. The waves here are pretty straightforward to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand or rock bottom. Crowds are rare due to access which requires a long walk.
What are the best surf conditions for Kingsbarns?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will hardly ever be crowded. The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the Northeast, East, and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 14 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 7 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
