Located in Northern Baja, Mexico, Punta Cabras is a little cove with some fun beach breaks and a couple of rocky reefs. The waves here are easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a rock or sand bottom. Sheltered from winds, it gets more crowded as the years go on.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta Cabras?
Gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will get busy on weekends and holidays (5/10). The best winds are from the Southwest and West. The best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 31 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best as water temperatures plunge to 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
