Located in Golfo Dulce, Costa Rica, Zancudo is a fun but sheltered beach break that offers up some rippable and fun waves for all levels of surfer. The waves here can be challenging but are usually not and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. On a big South there can be a left-hand point similar to Pavones but without the crowds.
What are the best surf conditions for Zancudo?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. Works on a mid-tide best.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures range between 29 and 28. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
