Located in Golfo Dulce, Costa Rica, Punta Burica is a largely unexplored area with multiple large and powerful offshore reefs. The waves here are heavy and break for up to 100 meters over rock and sand-covered reefs. You’ll need a good boat to explore here.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta Burica?
Gets good between waist-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard, then a step-up as the swell increases. These breaks are suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. These spots generally work on low to mid tides best.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures range between 29 and 28. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
