Located on the Cape Peninsula, South Africa, Llandudno is a fun beach break that offers up a few peaks. There are lefts and rights in the middle of the beach, a right barrel on the north side, and a left rippable wall on the south side. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Llandudno?
It gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is good for all levels of surfer. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will get busy at peak times (5/10). The best winds are from the East or Southeast. The best swells are from the Southwest or West. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 19°C (66°F). In winter, a 4/3 is best when temps drop to 15°C (59°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
