Located in South Bay, Los Angeles, Ballona Creek is an alright lefthand jetty set-up that offers some mellow and easy waves for longboarders and beginners. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. The water here can be a bit grimy, take care.
What are the best surf conditions for Ballona Creek?
Gets good between head high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and bigger. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will get quite crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works on a low tide.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 19 degrees. In winter we recommend wearing a 4/3 when water temperatures drop to 14 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
