Located in Oceanside, Southern California, Oceanside Harbor is a fun and consistent beach break that peels across well-formed sandbars. The waves here can be a bit challenging at times, breaking for up to 150 meters providing ample opportunities for both carves and barrels depending on the day.
What are the best surf conditions for Oceanside Harbor?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. A longboard will work great here on smaller days, but a shortboard is best when it starts pushing overhead. Oceanside Harbor can provide for all levels of surfers depending on the size of the swell. The surf here is consistent (7/10) but can get pretty crowded when it is good (8/10). Offshore winds are from the East. Works best on a mid to high tide. The best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, and West.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 20 degrees. In the winter an upgrade to a 4/3 is in order as water temps drop to 15 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
