In San Diego County, Southern California, Grandview is a fun beach break that rolls over a rock and sand bottom. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 150 meters providing great sections for manoeuvres.
What are the best surf conditions for Grandview?
Gets good between head high and triple overhead. We recommend a longboard for the smaller days and a shortboard when it gets a bit bigger. Lots of beginners frequent this spot especially on weekends, but intermediates and advanced surfers will also have a lot of fun here. The surf here is semi-consistent (5/10) but can get super crowded on weekends and holidays (8/10). Offshore winds come from the Southwest and West. Works on all tides. The best swells come in the summer from the South and Southwest.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer with the warmest water temperature hitting 20 degrees in July. In the winter a 4/3 is good to have on in the 15-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this/
