Located in the Mentawais, West Sumatra, Indonesia, Bintangs is an excellent right hand reef break that offers up a kegging barrel on the right swells and a performance wall on other swells. The waves here are heavy and break for up to 150 meters over a coral reef. Be ready to paddle especially during spring tides.
What are the best surf conditions for Bintangs?
Gets good between head high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides but lows are the best for barrels.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round. Water temperatures fluctuate between 29 and 25 here year round. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
