Located in the Southern Mentawai Islands, Indonesia, Silabu is a good left reef break that offers up punchy, rippable sections as well as a respite from the crowds at the other breaks in the area. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Silabu?
Gets good between waist high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here sometimes has a wave (4/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round. Water temps fluctuate between 28 and 25. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
