Located in Lampung, Southern Mentawai Islands, Indonesia, Pulau Pisang (Banana Island) is an island that has both a left and right on opposite sides. The left is trickier than the right but both are critical and hollow. The waves here are not for the faint hearted and break for up to 150 meters over coral reefs.
What are the best surf conditions for Pulau Pisang?
Gets good between waist high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will get busy on weekends and holidays (5/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round. Water temperatures vary between 28 and 25 year round. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
