Located in South Lombok, Indonesia, Mawi is a quality reef break that offers up a high-performance right and left when smaller. As the size picks up the right closes out and the left becomes a freight train barrel. The waves here are pretty heavy and break for up to 200 meters over a sharp coral reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Mawi?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and is generally uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round here. The water temperatures climb to 28 in the summer and drop only to 25 in the winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
