Located in South Lombok, Indonesia, Gili Air is a quality right hand reef break that offers up some short, punchy barrels when the conditions line up. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef. This spot is very fickle, and needs precise conditions to work.
What are the best surf conditions for Gili Air?
Gets good between chest high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here almost never breaks (2/10) and will be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. Needs a huge Southwest to South swell to break. Also needs a super high tide dropping.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round. Water temps fluctuate between 28 and 25. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
