Located in West Bali, Kuta Reef is a fun right hand reef set up that offers up some rippable sections with lower consequences than other waves in the area. The waves here are not always easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef. Its a long paddle out, get a boat if you can. This spot is a bit of a swell magnet, expect it to have a wave often.
What are the best surf conditions for Kuta Reef?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will generally have a crew (7/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on a mid to high tide best.
The water temperatures fluctuate between 27 and 29 year round. Boardshorts or a bikini will do the trick all year. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
