Located in West Bali, Hyatt Reef is an excellent reef break that offers up some good right-hand sections for turns and hacks as well as the occasional barrel section on both the outside and inside. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a coral bottom. This spot gets good on bigger swells and is just visible from the shore. Directly in front of the Bali Hyatt Resort, paddle out early to avoid winds.
What are the best surf conditions for Hyatt Reef?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard here or a step-up up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will generally be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Northwest and West. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West and BIG. Likes a mid to higher tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. In the summer water temperatures rise to 28 degrees before dropping only to 25 in the winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
