Located in West Bali, Indonesia, Kuta Beach is a peaky beach break that offers up some good and sometimes epic waves for ripping into. The waves here are easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. This is one of the classic Bali spots and has become quite popular as the decades have passed. You can find anything and everything here, except for solitude.
What are the best surf conditions for Kuta?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is very consistent (8/10) and will get very crowded always (9/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. In the summer water temperatures rise to 28 degrees before dropping only to 25 in the winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
