Located in East Bali, Sanur is an excellent (some say world-class) right-hand reef setup that offers up ultra-long, fast, and shallow barrels when the conditions line up. The waves here are pretty heavy and dangerous, breaking for up to 300 meters over a coral bottom. Needs a massive swell to get going, and won’t be good unless big. After the long barrel is a closeout that claims many.
What are the best surf conditions for Sanur?
Gets good between chest high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard here then a step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will be very crowded often (8/10). The best winds are from the West. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works best on a mid to high tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. In the summer water temperatures rise to 29 degrees before dropping only to 27 in the winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
