Located on the Inner Hebrides, Scotland, Ardnave Bay is a good left river mouth set-up that offers up some good sections for performance surfing when the conditions line up. The waves here are not easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. Watch out for strong currents on ebbing tides.
What are the best surf conditions for Ardnave Bay?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when small and a shortboard or your step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and will generally be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the Northwest and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 14 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 9 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
