Located in Seignosse, right out the front of the famous beach bar “Le Surfing”, Les Estagnots is a quality and technical beach break that works with swells up to 12ft. There is a live camera if you want to check the conditions before giving it a go. It handles a bit more size than its northerly neighbour, Les Bourdaines, but currents and longshore drift can be brutal.
The spot is very popular as it regularly hosts the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro France, World Tour stops, held every year between the end of September and the beginning of October. With a good W-NW swell and light easterly wind, you will get some world class fast and hollow barrels.
Even if it starts working from 1ft, beginners should avoid that spot. Indeed, the wave breaks behind a trough and it can get very tricky to paddle in after mid-tide or on outgoing tide. Not to say that competition in the water is always tough!
