Located in front of the CERS, where professional sportsmen do their rehab, Le Santocha is the most surfed wave in Capbreton. Between the surf schools and the local rippers, it is always crowded. The spot’s reputation is also known for hosting the finals of the Quiksilver King of The From every year.
Le Santocha is sheltered and offers both rights and lefts. There is a peak with a long right along the groyne that ends in the blockhaus and a shorter more technical left. Even if it can handle all tides, it works better at low, with an easterly wind and a NW swell.
Le Santocha starts working from 2ft and can hold up to 12ft. The waves are fat with nice walls that get hollower the further south you drift. The rip currents can be very strong and treacherous. Be patient when you paddle out… Many locals prefer to sneak out at Le Prevent, the neighbourly spot, and then paddle around the groyne.
