Located in Nayarit, Mexico, on an offshore island, Hammerhead is a fun reef break that throws up rippable lefts and rights. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a rocky reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Hammerhead?
Gets good between waist-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or step-up here as the size increases. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will get crowded at times as surf charters are more popular nowadays (5/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 31 degrees. In winter the attire is the same as water temperatures only drop to 22. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
