Located in Nayarit, Mexico, Ostiones is a fun left-hand reef setup that offers up fast but rippable walls when the conditions line up. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a rock and sand bottom. Takes a long walk to get here or a boat ride.
What are the best surf conditions for Ostiones?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard and then a step up here as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 31°C (88°F). In the winter, wear the same as the water temperatures only drop to 22°C (72°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
