Located in Nayarit, Mexico, Punta Mita is a quality right-hand point break that offers up a long, fast, barreling wave. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 200 meters (656 feet) over a rock and sand bottom. Access can be a problem due to the 4 seasons development, but a boat ride or a bribe will get you in nice and easy.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta Mita?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is good for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. The water temperatures range from 31°C to 22°C (88°F to 72°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
