More on Ollies Point (Potrero Grande)
Located in Guanacaste, right on the border of Nicaragua and Costa Rica, Ollie’s Point (named after the colonel who delivered weapons to the junta in Nicaragua) is a wonderful right-hand point break. It is featured in “The Endless Summer II” and is a world-class wave. It offers up performance walls and barreling sections for those that rent a boat to arrive, which are many. The waves break for up to 200 meters over a rock bottom. There are some other good peaks nearby that work at high tides. Watch out for Crocs and big old mosquitos. Not easy to access through the national park, impossible in the wet season.
What are the best surf conditions for Ollie’s Point?
Gets good between waist-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard, shortboard or More...
