Located in the Guanacaste region, Costa Rica, Isla Chora is a good reef break that offers up a powerful righthander off of a small island. The waves here are heavy and break for up to 100 meters over a rock bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Isla Chora?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (6/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works on a mid-tide best.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures range between 29 and 27. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
