Located in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, Punta Guiones is a quality left-hand reef break that offers up fast walls that need a pump or two to get through. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a rock bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta Guiones?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard or a step-up when bigger. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (6/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works on a mid-tide.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures range between 29 and 27. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
