Located on Kangaroo Island just South of Adelaide, Cape Kersaint is a powerful, deepwater, left point break that breaks over a rock bottom. The waves here are not for those that value safety: The linup is very unpredictable and hemmed in by cliffs. Those that seek barrels will be tempted to enter the water searching for a deep empty pit.
What are the best surf conditions for Cape Kersaint?
Gets good here between waist high to double overhead. Bring a shortboard, step up, or gun for when it’s big. Cape Kersaint is suited only to advanced, pro, and suicidal surfers only. The surf is consistent here (7/10) and isn’t usually busy (3/10). The best winds are offshore from the North, it works on all tides, and the best swells are big and from the South or Southwest.
With water temps in summer sitting around 17 degrees, we recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit. In winter the temperatures drop to around 14 degrees, so bring a 4/3. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
