Found in Caloundra, Queensland, Australia, Moffats is a fun, crumbly right point break that peels across a rock bottom. The waves here can be tricky sometimes, but break for up to 200 meters providing long sections for the cruiser in you. Perfect for longboarders and those looking to practice surfing on slopier waves.
What are the best surf conditions for Moffats?
The point gets good between waist high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a fish, longboard, or even shortboard when bigger here. Moffats is suited to all levels of surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) but can get ridiculously crowded (9/10). The best winds come from the Southwest and the best swells come from the East, Northeast, or Southeast. Moffats works on all tides, but watch out for rocks poking up at the lows.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini with a wetsuit top in summer with temperatures hitting 25 degrees in January. In winter water temperatures fall to 19 degrees, so a springsuit is the right call. See our temperature chart below for more data on this.
