Found in Queensland, Australia, The Bluff is a great point break that peels across a rock and sand bottom. The waves here are pretty forgiving to surf and break for up to 100 meters providing great opportunities for carves, hacks, and snaps.
What are the best surf conditions for The Bluff?
The point gets good between waist high and triple overhead. A longboard will work great here when it’s a bit smaller, and a shortboard will suffice when the size picks up. The Bluff is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here hardly ever breaks (2/10) but also barely ever has a crowd (3/10). The best winds come from the Southwest. The best swells come from the East, Northeast, and Southeast. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer with water temperatures peaking at 25 degrees in January. In winter a springsuit will work best in the 19-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
