Located on Simeulue and Banyak Islands, Indonesia, Thailand is a quality left reef break that offers up a steep drop into a long open wall perfect for ripping turns into. The waves here are not easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef. Head up the coast for some more waves, although it can get a bit treacherous.
What are the best surf conditions for Thailand?
Gets good between waist high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is consistent (6/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round. Water temps fluctuate between 29 and 25. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
