Located in the Simeulue and Banyak Islands, Northern Sumatra, Cobras is an excellent left hand reef set up that offers amazing, long barrels when the conditions line up. The waves here are challenging and break for up to 200 meters over a shallow coral reef. This is the go to spot when the swell is low, it picks up everything.
What are the best surf conditions for Cobras?
Gets good between head high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will generally have a crew on it (6/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round. Water temps fluctuate between 29 and 25. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
